Step #1

Sign up to become a Client using your friend’s Orange Key

Before you start, remember to have your friend’s Orange Key ready. We’ll ask you to enter the Orange Key on the first screen. (Heads-up: our Refer a Friend Bonus can’t be combined with any other new Client Bonus offers.)

Step #2

Open your first eligible Account and make your deposit

Open an eligible Account of your choice and deposit at least $250 within 60 days of becoming a Client (for Investment Fund Accounts, minimum initial investment of $250).∆

Step #3

Maintain your balance

Keep a minimum Account balance of $250 for at least 60 consecutive days.

Step #4

Get your $50 Bonus

Once all that’s out of the way, your Bonus will be paid into a non-registered Tangerine Savings Account or Tangerine Chequing Account within 30 days.

How do I refer a friend to Tangerine using my Orange Key®?

A Refer a Friend Orange Key is a unique code that’s given to each Tangerine Client. As a Client, when you share your Orange Key with someone you know, it’s the same as saying, “Hey, I really like banking with Tangerine, and I think you’ll enjoy becoming a Client, too.” They’ll need to enter the Orange Key when they’re enrolling. This means a lot to us, which is why we offer a Refer a Friend Bonus as our way of saying thanks. (Conditions may apply.)

To find your Orange Key:

  1. Log in, if you aren’t already logged in.
  2. Click your name in the top corner of the screen
  3. Go to ‘Profile & Settings’
  4. Click the 'General' section

Your Orange Key should appear under the 'Refer a Friend' header

Can I use both a promo code for a special offer and a Refer a Friend Orange Key when I become a Client?

From time to time, we offer special promotions that new Clients can take advantage of by entering a promo code when they sign up as a Client. When these types of promotions are available, only one code (promo code or Orange Key) can be used. You can find out what our latest new Client promotions are by going to our homepage.

Existing Clients can earn a $50 Referral Bonus for each eligible “friend or family member” they successfully refer (up to a maximum of 3 per calendar year) who becomes a New Client to Tangerine using their Referrer’s Orange Key and who completes All Actions as set out below. This annual referral cap renews January 1 of every year, and any referrals that don’t earn a Bonus won’t carry forward to the next calendar year. Any remaining referrals not used by the end of the calendar year will be forfeited.

For New Clients to be eligible to earn a $50 Referral Bonus, they must complete the following actions ("All Actions"): (i) Enroll using a valid Refer a Friend Orange Key, (ii) successfully open their first Tangerine Account (excluding Tangerine Credit Cards), (iii) make an initial deposit/investment of at least $250 within 60 days of becoming a New Client, and (iv) maintain a minimum Account balance of $250 for at least 60 consecutive days starting on the day the initial $250 minimum deposit/investment is made. Note that for Mortgages and other Loans, the minimum deposit requirements don’t apply.

A “New Client” is a person that has never had an ING DIRECT or Tangerine Account. Accounts are deemed successfully opened when the new Client has satisfied the Account Terms and Conditions and the Account is without restrictions. Referral Bonus deposits will be made within 30 days of the New Client successfully completing All Actions provided all other terms and conditions are met, and will be paid into the non-registered Tangerine Savings Account or Tangerine Chequing Account of both the referring Existing Client (the “Referrer”) and referred New Client (the “Referral”). If the Referrer or the Referral has both a non-registered Tangerine Savings Account and a Chequing Account, the deposit of the Referral Bonus will be made to their Chequing Account by default. If they have both a joint Chequing Account and a single Chequing Account, the deposit will be made to the Chequing Account on which they are the primary Account holder. If the Referrer or the Referral doesn’t have either a Tangerine non-registered Savings Account or a Chequing Account, they’ll need to open one in order to receive the Referral Bonus. Once an Orange Key has been submitted, it can’t be reversed. Additional conditions and restrictions apply as set out in our Account Terms.

This Offer can’t be combined with any other Tangerine enrollment Bonus offers unless otherwise specified.
