When you use your phone to pay in stores, Google Pay doesn’t send your actual Credit or Client Card Number with your payment. Instead, a virtual account number is used to represent your information – so your Card details stay safe.

Google Pay protects your payment info with multiple layers of security, using one of the world’s most advanced security infrastructures to help keep your information safe.

Your Tangerine Client Card and Money-Back Credit Card purchases through Google Pay are protected against unauthorized transactions as outlined in your Client Card Agreement and Tangerine Credit Card Cardholder Agreement.

Google Pay is the fast, simple way to pay in millions of places – online, in-store, and more, using an eligible Android device. Add your Tangerine Client Card or Money-Back Credit Card to pay for goods and services at merchants that accept contactless payments. Make in-app purchases on your eligible Android smartphone wherever you see the “Google Pay” icon at the online checkout page.

 

Eligible Android devices use Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, which allows two devices to exchange payment information quickly and conveniently at close range. You should ensure NFC is turned on for your device.

 

In order to use Google Pay, you’ll need:

• An Android smartphone running Android Lollipop 5.0 or above
• Your Tangerine Client Card or Money-Back Credit Card

1. Download the Google Pay app from the Google Play store, if you don’t already have it.
2. Open the Google Pay app and follow the prompts to add your Tangerine Client Card or Money-Back Credit Card.

There is no cost to register or use your Tangerine Client Card or Money-Back Credit Card with Google Pay.

• Existing wireless carrier data and messaging charges apply.

Google Pay can be used in store:

  • anywhere you can tap or swipe your Card to pay

  • In-app:

  • anywhere you see the Google Pay logo

The first card that’s added to Google Pay automatically becomes the default payment card. To set your Tangerine payment Card of choice, open the Google Pay app and tap “Payment” on the bottom right. Select your Tangerine Card and then tap “Default for in-store purchases”.

To delete your Card from the app:

1. Open the Google Pay app.
2. Select the Card you’d like to remove. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap “Remove”.

To suspend a Card on the app:

If you’d like to suspend your Tangerine Client Card, please call us at 1-888-826-4374.

If you’d like to suspend your Money-Back Credit Card, log in at tangerine.ca, select your Money-Back Credit Card, and select “Pause Card”.

If you believe your Tangerine Card information used for Google Pay has been stolen or compromised in any way, call us immediately at 1-888-826-4374.

Your Tangerine Client Card or Money-Back Credit Card purchases made through Google Pay are protected against unauthorized transactions with Mastercard’s Zero Liability Policy. Your Card information and transaction information are never shared with Android.
